The Planning Group is pleased to announce our sponsorship of a new and exciting initiative for the Governance Professionals of Canada. GPC has announced the inaugural GPC.D Alumni Insight and Appreciation Day to kick off this year’s 25th Annual Corporate Governance Conference in Charlottetown. This will be an exclusive free event for GPC.D Alumni and current students.
GPC.D alumni represent the most professional, proficient and accomplished governance professionals in Canada. By no coincidence, alumni are also GPC’s most engaged and passionate members. With help from The Planning Group, GPC is offering this special event on Sunday August 13 prior to the kick-off of the 25th Annual Corporate Governance Conference in PEI. The event is title “Insight and Appreciation” because we will ask for the expert opinion and insight of GPC.D alumni and students in a facilitated workshop and celebrate and appreciate their awesomeness later in the day. The celebration portion will include complimentary food, drinks and special entertainment. Planning Group President, Peter Wright will personally provide a few tips to get to get the conversation started and Peter will also facilitate the workshop with a focus on the experiences and best practices of GPC.D alumni and students. We will cover a range of topics crucial to corporate governance in Canada, including how best to:
- Keep Boards out of the weeds and achieve the best level of guidance and oversight
- Improve Board engagement and active participation
- Successfully implement Board assessment results
- Effectively oversee strategy and manage performance
- Transition Director skills and Board composition to adapt to a changing operating environment
The workshop findings will be shared with all conference attendees and published on the GPC website.
